... doesn't matter which picture you use
to add or delete a texture. You need
a texture to download, and you can get the one I used
for this tutorial, here.

| DESCRIPTION:
Learn
how to add or delete a texture from the Texture
Filter. There might be some wondering why to use the Texture
Filter if they have the Texturizer (which is a Photoshop
Tool), but lately it's not allowed anymore to download the
Texturizer if you don't have PS, and then it's good to know
how to use the Texture Filter from PI.
|
 |
Download
the texture you want to add. Unzip if necessary, and save into
a separate folder (red arrow) on your pc. Don't save your
extra textures into the Ulead/PI folder, because if your PI
crashes ... you never now ..., and you have to reinstall,
everything you've put in there is gone. Except from the
original PI stuff. Therefore it's best to have separate
folders for everything you download. I even make separate
folders (1) under the main folder (red arrow) as you can see on
the screenshot.
|
|
 |
Open
a a picture (for this example/tutorial I used one from the
EP/Fill Gallery), go to Effect/Material Effect/Texture Filter
(red arrow).
|
|
 |
That
opens a window where you can choose different Effects. For
adding and deleting textures only the 2 first Effects ... Translucent Glass and Embossed
... are of interest.
To choose an Effect, click one of the small thumbnails (red
arrow).
To change the settings of a texture use the sliders (1).
To add/choose or delete a texture, click the Texture Image
(white hand).
On the preview window (2) you can see how the Effect looks on
your picture.
|
|
|
 |
To
add a texture, click the Texture Image (red arrow), and choose
Add Texture (white arrow). In the next window you find the
file you want to add.
|
|
|
 |
Now
we want to use the texture we've just added. click the Texture
Image (red arrow), choose Select Texture. That opens a new
window, with all the textures you've stored into your Texture
Filter. The last texture (white arrow) is actually the one we
just added.
Click on the texture you want to use, and the texture will now
be shown as your Texture Image. |
In the Texture Filter window you can now try different
settings. I'm not explaining that more, because you just have
to try it by yourself to find the best settings for the
different textures.
If you want to delete a texture, click the Texture Image,
choose Delete Texture, find the texture you want to remove,
click on it and press the Delete button.
|
|
|
If
you found some settings you like, press the Preview button in
the Texture Filter window, and check if those settings still
look good on the original picture. Are you satisfied, click OK
(red arrow), but if not click the Continue button and try to
find some other settings or another texture.
Click OK/Apply Current Frame Effect to Image in the Texture
Filter window, and you've added a texture to your
picture.

That's it! Not difficult at
all, and a handy effect ... aren't you agree? HAVE FUN!!!
