| DESCRIPTION:
This
tutorials shows you how easy you can frame parts of a picture
with the Path Tool, and to remove the unnecessary background
easily too.
Open
the photo you want to use and choose the Path Drawing Tool
(red arrow). Go to Shape (1), choose Custom Shape and find a
shape you like. I've chosen Round Edges for this
tutorial.
Draw
the shape on your picture where you want to have the frame,
but in reality it doesn't really matter because you can always
move the path afterwards into the right position.
Change
the Mode from 2D Object to 3D Pipe (white arrow). In the Path
Panel you can change the look of the border. For this example
I've set the Border to 6 and the Depth to 30.
Right
click the frame and Duplicate. You have now 2 frames on top of
each other, and the one on the top is active. Leave it that
way ... go to Mode and change the Mode from 3D Pipe to Selection
(white arrow). Right
click the frame, choose
Invert. Right click/Expand-Shrink and expand the selection
with 1 pixel. Hit the Delete Key and with this step you've easily
removed the unnecessary background around the frame.
If you want to have a special color around the frame make sure
you've chosen the right background color (red arrow) before
you hit the Delete Key.
Just
click on the frame to make the first frame active, and now you
can use any preset you want from the Galleries (red arrow). I
choose one from Cyndi/Regal1 (1).
Right click the thumbnail (2) of the preset/ Modify Properties
and Apply ...
In the Material Window (3) you adapt the preset as you wish.
For this example I had to remove the Shadow, change the Border
to 3D Pipe and to set the size of the Border to
6. |
Now
you have different possibilities to go further on.
First you can Right click inside the picture (1) and Merge
All. Go to Selection/Magic Wand Tool and click the background
of your picture. Right click/Expand-Shrink and expand the
selection with 1 pixel. Right click/Invert and right click/Convert to Object. You've now made an object of your
frame and can even save it into your Easy Palette/Object
Gallery (red arrow), by using the Add to Easy Palette Window
(3).
I've moved the object beside the original picture (1) onto a
black background (2).
Or you can give
your frame a new background. Right click inside the picture and Merge All. Go to Selection/Magic Wand Tool and click
the background of your picture. Right click/Expand-Shrink and
expand the selection with 1 pixel. Go to the Easy Palette/
Galleries (red arrow)/Fill Gallery/Gradient (Natural Texture,
Magic Texture, ...) and fill the background as you wish. For
this tutorial I used the Gradient with the name G07 (white
arrow).
Now you can use filters on the background, textures, ...
That's
it! An easy way to make a different picture with the Path Tool
and the Easy Palette. HAVE FUN!!!
