DESCRIPTION:
This tutorial will show you how to make
nice pattern background tiles using different presets and filters.
|
 |
Open a New
Image 200x200 pixels with a white background. Pick the Path Tool (red
arrow)/Square (1) and set the Mode to 3D Round (2). In the Path Panel
set the Border (3) to 1.
Draw a square (mine was approx. 143
pixels). The color of the square isn't important at all. |
|
 |
Open your Easy
Palette/Galleries (red arrow)/Carol Oyl's (1), chose eggfoyls (2) and
click on the thumbnail with the name Blue Andulusian (3).
|
|
 |
Go to the Pick
Tool (red arrow) and move the tile with the tool into your free working
space. Close the canvas we used for drawing our tile.
Right click/Properties/Transparency: 80%. (We set the transparency very high
... you
could even use 90%, because we want to use the tile for a background
on a webpage.)
Now you have endless possibilities. I will show you 6 quite different
ways to change the tile we've made in our last steps. Take a look at the
screenshot below.

1.tile: Effect/Simple/Quick Tile
2.tile: Effect/Simple/Blintz +
Format/
Hue & Saturation: Colorize: 39/0/0
3.tile: Effect/Simple/Diamonds +
Effect/All/Duotone Effect (Enable sepia colors and range, and chose one
or two colors.)
4.tile: Effect/Simple/Half Warp +
Effect/Simple/Diamonds + Effect/Eye Candy 3.1/Jiggle (Noticeable Warp:
13/69/59 - Bubbles) + Effect/Simple/ Quick Tile
5.tile: Effect/Eye Candy
3.1/Swirl(Sand Painting:101/10/60/100 + Warp) + Effect/ Simple/ Quick
Tile + Effect/Texture/ Texturizer/ Sandstone (100/6 - Top)
6.tile: Effect/Redfield/Lattice
Composer/ Wallen Tiles + Effect/Simple/Quick Tile + Format/Hue &
Saturation: Master:

 |
Now go to File/Preview in Browser/As Tiled Background.
This tiled background is from the 5.tile, and your result should look like
the one to the left. (Of course only if you used the same photo and the
same settings as I
did!)

|
|
That's
it! That was another easy way to make background tiles. As I
said before, you can use a lot of other presets and filters.
Just experiment by yourself. You can read more about how to
color your tiles with Hue & Saturation in my tut_003
(part 2 and 3) and for the Duotone Effect you will find more
information in tut_012.
HAVE FUN!!!
