DESCRIPTION: In our second part we shall have a look at the common use of filters from Filters Unlimited 2.0. As you get more familiar with Filters Unlimited 2.0, you will learn how to change the name of the filters, move them into other groups, make new groups ... just like moving all bevel filters into one group, all fading filters into another one + + +  (Take a look at the manual which is following the program - it's worth it!)

After installing Filters Unlimited 2.0 file to C:\Plugins\Filters Unlimited 2.0 (that's where the program automatically installs itself!), open PI, go to File/Preferences/ General/Plug-ins to put the link to FU there.

By doing this, Filters Unlimited 2.0 (FU) will appear in PI as you see on the screenshot to the left.
You might have to close and reopen PI before FU appears under Effect.

After opening FU, this screen will appear.
At the top you can see three tabs. By selecting the Navigator tab you get two list views, one preview window and underneath the preview there are sliders (for nearly all filters) for changing the selected filter's settings.
Try using the Randomize button under the sliders to the right ... you will achieve a lot of different looks just with this button. With the Reset button you set the sliders back to their original status.

If you changed a filter's settings using the sliders and want to keep this change so you can use it again, click the Preset tab at the top and then the Add button on the bottom row. A little window with a picture of your preset will show up called Preset Description. In the view beside the picture you can name your preset, or put in other information. (For this tut I just used the name try_001.)

After clicking OK your next screen will look like the image on the left. Now you can use your settings, or just keep them for another time. You can also, at any time, edit the name of your setting by clicking the Edit button on the bottom. Or you can delete it if you're not satisfied with the settings. Use the Apply button to apply the effect to your picture.

Back to the Navigator tab you will see a little plus (+) symbol in front of the filter you used. That's the sign that this filter has a preset or even several presets. (In this case, it's the 3D Glass Frame 1 which came with FU, which I used as an example for this tutorial.) When you open FU again and want to use your special preset for a picture, find the filter within the two lists view, click the preset tab and there it is for you to use.

A handy tip on the end of Part 2 - if you want to apply different filters from FU (Version 2.0) on the same picture, hold down Alt and click Apply.

That's it! I hope you found this tutorial helpful. You will notice that by using Filters Unlimited 2.0, PhotoImpact will load much faster. At the time of writing this tutorial, I have approx. 2900 filters/plug-ins in FU. You can even make your own filters/presets and save them.  So, all I can say is HAVE FUN!!!
