DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows how you can make a beautiful and very special frame to decorate your photos or artworks ... by using PI and one 3rd party filter.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial we are going to make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again, so next time I'm only referring to 2 Gold (=gold fill you've downloaded) or 2 Color (=your chosen Background color). Just repeat the steps I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the color).

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box.
You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open your picture and choose a nice color from your picture to use as Background color - here I used 51/68/62 (white hand).

Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally: 1 Grey (238/238/238).
Right click/All, right click/Border: Border width: 1 (white hand), Direction: Inward
(red arrow), Shape: Box.
Click OK and keep the border selected.

Go to Web/Button Designer/Rectangular and use these settings:
Style: 1.altern. (1), Direction: Inward (white arrow), choose the 2.altern. from the border alternatives - R02  (white hand) -, and change the Width of all four side to 1 (red arrows).
Click OK and deselect the border.

Expand sides equally: 29 Grey (238/238/238), select the border.

Effect/Fills and Textures/Texture Filter/Embossed (1), and use the default Texture Image with these settings (2):
Scaling: 100
Level: 12
Transparency: 90
Variation: 0
Direction: 45
Click OK/Apply Current Frame Effect to Image (white arrow), and deselect the border.

Expand sides equally: 2 White and select the border.
Go to Edit/Fill/Image (white arrow)/File and find the file (red  arrow) you've downloaded (GoldPatternFill).  Remember to check the box Tile the image (white hand).
Click OK and deactivate the border.

Expand sides equally: 2 Color (your chosen Background color - white arrow).

2 Gold + 5 Color + 2 Gold + 10 Color +
2 Gold + 2 Color + 2 Gold

Expand sides equally: 40 Color, select the border and go to Effect/Bordermania/Ripple and use these settings:
Border Width: 9
Ripples: 3
Light Angle: 246
Symmetry: 30
Light Intensity: 16
Phase: 68
Tint: 0
Contrast: 0
Color: 51/68/62 (or your chosen Background color)
Click OK.
You can always play with the settings - that way you can achieve a lot of beautiful effects!

2 Gold

Merge All.

That's it! A beautiful frame for any kind of photo or artwork ... done with PI and just one 3rd party filter. HAVE FUN!!!
