For this tutorial, as for most of them, we are going to make a
lot of similar frames/borders, with the same
color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again, so
next time I'm only referring to 1 Color (=Color code), or 2
Artist (=Kaleidoscope Fill).
Just repeat the steps
I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand
sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the
color.)
To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All,
right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the
Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box.
You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more
easy if you use similar colors for the background and the
border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded
equally!)

New Image: Canvas color:
White and Size: 400x400 Pixels.
Go to Effect/Krysty's FX vol.II 1.1/Generator T (Radial 3)
and use these settings:
11/134/255/16/13.
Click OK. |
|
 |
Go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 2 pixel, Expand: White.
Select the border.
Effect/Fills and Textures/Kaleidoscope Fill, click the Edit button (red arrow),
choose the palette 008 (1) inside the
Palette Ramp Editor, Pattern template: 5 (white arrow) and
Pattern sample: 5-3 (white hand).
Click OK and keep the border selected.
Effect/Bordermania/Frame #2:
2/2/60/40 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.
3 Color (208/0/0)
2 Artist + Effect/Bordermania/Frame #2:
2/2/60/40 + Notch Corners.
Deselect. |
|
 |
Expand: 25 Color (208/0/0) and
select the border.
Go to Effect/Greg's Factory Output Vol.II (red arrow)/Pool
Shadow (white arrow) and use the default settings (1):
50/50/50/50/50/50/128/128.
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using Filters
Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same anyway.
Click Apply and keep the border selected.
|
|
|
 |
Effect/Almathera/A
Halo and use these settings:
Black (red arrow)
thickness: 20
transparency: 54.
Click OK and deselect the border.
2 Artist + Effect/Bordermania/Frame #2:
2/2/60/40 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.
3 Color (208/0/0)
4 Artist + Effect/Bordermania/Frame #2:
4/4/60/40 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.
|
|
 |
Expand:
50 Color (208/0/0) and select the border.
Go to Effect/Greg's Factory Output Vol.II/ Pool Shadow and use
the default settings as before.
Keep the border selected.
Change the Background color (white hand) to fit your picture.
For this example I used a dark red shape - 155/0/0.
Go to Effect/Filter Attack/Linien (red arrow). To find all the
different filters inside Filter Attack, you have to click the
oblong red arrows (white arrow).
|
|
|
Now
you have to make your own settings, because it's not possible
to give exact settings for this filter. Try to make your
settings like the ones you can see on the screenshot to the
left.
Click the grey-silver arrow to apply the filter (1).
If you are satisfied with the settings, deselect the border,
but if not just undo and try once more until you like the result.

|
|
6
Artist + Effect/Bordermania/ Frame #2 and use these settings:
6/6/60/40
+ Notch Corners (red arrow).
Click OK.
Merge All.
|
|
|
|
Open
your tube (1) and resize if necessary. Copy (Ctrl+C) the tube, activate the main
picture (2) and paste (Ctrl+V) the copy on it. Right click/Properties/Position &Size
and position the tube as it fits your picture. I used for this
tube: Left: 298 and
Top: 92.
Keep the tube selected, right click/Shadow and use these settings
(or some other if the fit you better!):
Black (white hand) + 7.altern. (red arrow) +
53/25/70/100/10.
Click OK and Merge All.

|
| That's it! A beautiful, and
special frame for any kind of photo and artwork ...
done with PI and different filters. HAVE FUN!!!
