To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All,
right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the
Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box.
You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more
easy if you use similar colors for the background and the
border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded
equally!)

New Image: Canvas color:
White and Size: 500x500 Pixels.
Go to Edit/Fill/Gradient/Fill type: 6.altern. (white

|
 |
Effect/Fills and Textures/Texture Filter/Embossed (1), and use
the default settings, which are:
Texture Image (red arrow): 1.row and 1.picture
(emboss001.bmp), with these settings:
100/20/50/0 + Direction: 45.
Click OK/Apply Current Frame Effect to Image (white arrow).
Now we shall use the mask you've downloaded. |
In case you need to freshen up your memory on how to save a mask
into the EP - you can take a look at one of my other
tutorials, where I explain a little bit more about how to use a
mask in PI. You'll find the tut here.
|
 |
Open
your Easy Palette/Object Libraries and find the mask you've
downloaded.
Change the
background color (white hand) to a color you want your mask to
be. (For this example we shall use White.).
Double-click the mask (1), and use the Transform Tool to make
your selection look like mine on the screenshot (2). Choose the Crop Tool (white arrow), click the
Crop button (red arrow), and crop the mask. |
|
|
 |
Choose the Selection Tool/Magic Wand (red arrow) and select the white middle
part of your picture. As you can see the selection isn't 100%.
To correct the problem, right click/ Expand/Shrink, and Expand
with 1 Pixel (white hand).
Keep this selection activated until I tell you to Merge
All.
Edit/Fill/Gradient and use the same gradient as before. |
|
 |
Effect/Fills
and Textures/Texture
Filter/ Embossed. This time we shall use another pattern.
Click the Texture Image (red arrow) and choose the picture with the name -
emboss007.bmp (white arrow). Use these settings:
100/25/50/0 + Direction: 45.
Click OK/Apply Current Frame Effect to Image.
Keep the selection activated.
Go to Effect/FM Tile Tools/Blend Emboss and use the default
settings.
|
|
|
 |
Effect/MuRa's
Meister/Perspective Tiling 1.1 and use these settings:
100/-51/0/100/0/0/100/255.
Click OK, and click 2x the minus for the Brightness (red
arrow).
Merge All.
Go to Format/Expand Canvas/Expand side equally: 30 Pixels,
Expand color: White.
Selection Tool/Magic Wand and select the white border. Also
here you'll see that the selection isn't 100%, and we have to
correct it a little bit.
|
|
 |
Go
to Standard Selection Tool (white arrow), use the Mode: +
(white hand) and the Shape: Rectangle.
Zoom in on your left, bottom corner and draw a rectangle as
you can see on the screenshot. The rectangle shall cover the
white background all to the frame (red arrows).
Repeat this step on your right upper corner (or wherever you
see that you need to redo this step). Now your selection of
the white background should be perfect.
Edit/Fill/Gradient and fill the selection with the same
gradient as before.
Effect/Material Effect/Texture Filter/Embossed and use the
same Texture Image as we did the first time (emboss001.bmp)
with the same settings:
100/20/50/0 + Direction: 45.
Keep the border selected.
|
|
|
Go
to Effect/Almathera/A
Halo and use these settings:
Black (red arrow) + 28/20.
Click OK and deselect the border.
Expand sides equally
5 pixel, Expand color: 114/108/118.
Select the border, apply the same Texture Filter as we used
the first time (emboss001.bmp) with the same settings.
Keep the border selected and go to Effect/Bordermania/
Frame #2: 5/5/60/80.
Merge All.
|
|
|
Now
we shall add the tube to finish the picture. You have to resize the tube to a Width of 160 Pixels.
Open
your tube (1), copy (Ctrl+C) the tube, activate the main
picture (2) and paste (Ctrl+V) the copy on it. Right click/
Properties/Position &Size (white hand)/Position and
use these settings:
Left: 143 (red arrow)
Top: 177 (white arrow).
Merge All.
