DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a beautiful and special frame to decorate your photos or artworks ... by using PI and different filters. Be aware - because I use a lot of screenshots, this tutorial has 2 parts!

Remember to save often!

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box.
You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture, and choose a Background color (white hand) from your picture. For this example I used 166/58/32.
Effect/Filters Unlimited/Paper Textures (red arrow)/ Canvas, Fine (white arrow) with the default settings (1):
Intensity: 156
Lightness: 87.
Click Apply.

If you don't have Filters Unlimited try to find a canvas texture inside the Texture Filter from PI X3, or use the Texturizer if you have it. Use your chosen texture whenever I ask for the Filters Unlimited/Paper Texture in this tutorial.

Right click/All, right click/Border: Border width: 3 (white hand), Direction: Inward (red arrow), Shape: Box.
Click OK and keep the border selected. Go to Edit/Fill/ Color and fill the border with your Background color.
Go to Effect/Filters Unlimited/Paper Textures and use the same texture as before.
Keep the border selected.

Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black (red arrow)
thickness: 4
transparency: 22.
Click OK and deselect the border.

Expand: 20 Color (166/58/32), select the border and go to Effect/ Greg's Factory Output Vol.II (red arrow)/Pool Shadow (white arrow) and use these settings (1):
50/50/50/50/50/50/80/200.
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using Filters Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same anyway.
Click Apply.

Merge All.

Expand: 25 White, go to View/Ruler and View/Guidelines & Grid/Guidelines.
Zoom in on your left top corner, and use the the Pick Tool (white arrow) to set the Guidelines (blue lines on the screenshot). I've set mine to 80 Pixels (red arrows), but it's up to you how you want your frame to like like.
Set the Guidelines for all corners.

That's it for the first part of this tutorial! In the second part we will finish off this special frame. HAVE FUN!!!
