DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make special frames for any picture/photo you like ... by using PI and some very handy filters.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again, so next time I'm only referring to 1 Gold (=goldfill - fill_cmv_gold.jpg) or 2 Color (= Background Color). Just repeat the steps I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the color.)

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture you want to use and change the Back- ground color (white arrow) into a color that fits your picture. For this picture I used 61/31/14.

Right click/All, right click/Border and set the Border width to 1 (white hand), Direction: Inward (red arrow), Shape: Box .
Click OK and keep the border selected.

Go to Edit/Fill/Image (white hand), and find (red arrow) the downloaded goldfill - fill_cmv_gold.jpg.
Click OK and deselect the border (spacebar).

2 Color + 3 Gold.

Right click/All, right click/Convert to Object. Leave the picture activated, go to Adjust/Expand Canvas, and expand all sides equally with 20 Pixels. Expand color: Background color (61/31/14).
With the picture still activated - use your cursor movement keys and move the picture 10 Pixels to the right (push 10x the right cursor movement key), and 10 Pixels up.

Leave the picture activated, right click/Duplicate.

Move now the duplicated picture (which should be activated) 20 Pixels down and 20 Pixels to the left.
Expand all sides equally: 20 Pixels, Color: Background color.

Merge All.

Choose the Selection Tool/Magic Wand Tool (red arrow) set the Similarity to 50 (white hand) and make a selection of the outer border (as you can see on the screenshot).
Go to Effect/
Graphic Plus/Cross Shadow, and use the default settings.

Merge All.

1 Gold.

Expand: 30 Pixels, Color: White.
Right click/All, right click/Border Border width: 30, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box, Soft edge: 0 and Anti-aliasing.
Go to
Effect/VM Instant Art/Three Cuts and use the default settings.
Keep the border selected.
Go to  Photo/Color/Hue&Saturation: Colorize (red arrow), und use these settings:
Hue: -155
Saturation: 0
Lightness: 0.
(If you use another picture with other colors you have to find your own settings.)

Leave the border selected.

Effect/Almathera/A Halo, and use these settings:
Black (red arrow) + 35/47.
Click OK and leave the border selected.

Click 3 times the minus Brightness in the Quick Color Panel (red arrow - below).

Merge All.

1 Gold + 2 Color + 3 Gold.

And finally ... your frame is finished :))

That's it! A very special frame for any kind of photo or artwork ... done with PI and different filters. HAVE FUN!!!
