For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to make a
lot of similar frames/borders, with the same
color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again, so
next time I'm only referring to 1 Color (=Foreground color) or
2 Silver (=GoldFillPattern_silvergrey).
Just repeat the steps
I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand
sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the
color.)
To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All,
right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the
Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box.
You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more
easy if you use similar colors for the background and the
border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded
equally!)

 |
Open the picture, choose a
Foreground color - 59/98/63 (white hand). Go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand:
White. Select the border, go to
Edit/Fill/Image (red arrow)/File
and find the file - GoldFillPattern_silvergrey (white arrow). Check the box Tile the
image (1) and click OK.
Keep the border selected, right click/Convert to Object, right
click/Shadow and use the
5.one with these settings: 14/99/10.
Deselect.
2 Color + 3 Silver + 1 Color + 3 Silver + 3 Color + 1 Silver. |
|
 |
Expand: 23 Color, select the border and go to Effect/Two Moon
(red arrow)/RotoBlades (white arrow) and use these settings
(1): 104/2/52/24.
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using Filters
Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same anyway.
Click Apply and keep the border selected.
Go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and apply these settings:
Black + 20/38.
Deselect.
1 Silver + 3 Color + 3 Silver. |
|
 |
Expand: 27 Color, select the border and go to Effect/ Fills
and Textures/Texture Filter/Animal Hide (white hand) and apply the default
settings (1):
15/100/64/28/37/47
Color: 64/64/64
Direction: 61
Click Apply Current Frame Effect to Image (red arrow), and
keep the border selected. |
|
 |
Go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black (red arrow)
thickness: 25 / transparency: 60.
Deselect.
1 Silver + 2 Color + 2 Silver.
Expand: 32 Color, select the border, right click/Convert to
Object, and right click/Duplicate.
Open a New Image, Canvas: White with the size - Width: 766 and Height:
651.
(That's 100 pixels extra on the Width
and the Height from the Active image.) |
|
|
 |
Open
the lace tile you've downloaded (1), copy (Ctrl+C) the tile,
activate the white New Image (2) and go to Edit/Fill/Image
(red arrow)/Clipboard (white arrow). Check the box Tile the
image (3).
Click OK and close the original lace tile.
|
|
 |
Copy
(Ctrl+C) the big lace image (1), activate the main picture (2)
and go
to Edit/Paste/Into Selection and place
the texture as you wish.
(By that way you can find the right
place for the pattern, and place it exactly where you want.)
Now you can close the big lace image.
On your main picture - right click/ Properties/Merge: Multiply.
Open
the Layer Manager, hold down Ctrl and pick our last two (32
pixels) borders. Right Click/Merge as Single Object. Click Yes on the pop-up
window, close the layer Manager but keep the border selected.
|
|
|
Go
to Effect/FM Tile Tools/Blend Emboss and apply the default
settings.
Go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black + 25/60.
Deselect.
3 Silver.
Merge All.

|
| That's
it! A beautiful frame for any kind of photo ... done with PI and
different filters.
HAVE FUN!!!
