DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a simple, but still beautiful frame to decorate your photos ... by using PI and different filters.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again -, so next time I'm only referring to 1 Color (=Foreground color), 2 White or 1 Gold (=GoldFillPattern). Just repeat the steps I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the color.)

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture, choose a Foreground color - 74/35/49 (white arrow).
Go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand: White. Select the border, go to Edit/Fill/Image/ File and find the file tut_frame_033_GoldFillPattern.  Remember to check the box Tile the image.
Click OK and keep the border selected.
Right click/Convert to Object, right click/Shadow and use the 5.one (red arrow) with these settings: 16/99/7.
Deselect.

1 White + 3 Color + 1 White + 1 Gold + 1 White.

Expand: 6 Color, select the border and go to Effect/ Bordermania/Frame #2: 6/6/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.

1 White.

Expand: 23 Color, select the border and go to Photo/ Noise/Add Noise/Options and use these settings:
Uniform (red arrow)
Monochromatic (white arrow)
Variance: 10 (white hand)
Click OK and keep the border selected.
Go to Effect/Greg's Factory Output Vol.II/Pool Shadow and use the default settings:
50/50/50/50/50/50/128/128.
Keep the border selected.

Go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black (red arrow)
thickness: 19
transparency: 58
Click OK and deselect.

1 White + 2 Gold + 1 White + 1 Color + 1 White.

Expand: 6 Color, select the border and go to Effect/ Bordermania/Frame #2: 6/6/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.

1 White.

Expand: 28 Color, select the border, go to Effect/Two Moon (red arrow)/Blur Checks (white arrow) and use these settings (1):
105/98/61/207/255/248/255.
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using Filters Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same anyway.
Click Apply and keep the border selected.

Go to Effect/Eye Candy 4000/Cutout and use these settings (1):
Direction: 303 (white arrow)
Distance: 7.40
Blur: 18.00
Opacity: 84
Keep original image (red arrow).
Click OK and use the Return Key to deselect the picture.

1 White + 2 Gold + 1 White.

Expand: 6 Color, select the border and go to Effect/ Bordermania/Frame #2: 6/6/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.

1 White.

Expand: 32 Color, select the border and go to Effect/Two Moon/ Quilt and use these settings: 124/104.
Go to Effect/FM Tile Tools/Blend Emboss and apply twice the default settings (see screenshot).
Keep the border selected, go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black + 30/36.
Deselect.

1 Gold.

Expand: 6 Color, select the border and go to Effect/ Bordermania/Frame #2: 6/6/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.

Merge All.
