DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a outstanding frame to decorate your photos with ... by using PI and different filters.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again -, so next time I'm only referring to 1 White or 2 Color (=Foreground color) or 5 Gold (=GoldFillPattern). Just repeat the steps I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the color.)

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture, choose a Foreground color (white hand) - 94/8/8 -, and go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 2 pixels, Expand: White. Select the border and go to Edit/Fill/Image (red arrow) and find the texture - the GoldFillPattern - you want to use (white arrow). Check the box Tile the image (1). Click OK.
Selection/None.

1 Color + 1 White.

Expand: 5 Color, and select the border.
Go to Web/Button Designer/Any Shape and use these settings:
Basic (white arrow):
Light angle: 315
Light elevation: 35
Bevel size: 3
Bevel smoothness: 0
Bevel (red arrow):
Choose the 2. one (red square).
Click OK and deselect.

1 White + 1 Color + 2 Gold.

Expand: 18 Color, and select the border. Go to Effect/Eye Candy 3/Swirl and use the default settings:
Whirlpool Spacing: 100
Smear Length: 15
Twist: 70
Streak Detail: 40
+ Warp and Smooth
Apply and keep the border selected.

Go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
White (red arrow)
thickness: 9
transparency: 78
Click OK and deselect.

2 Gold.

Expand: 23 Color, and select the border. Go to Photo/ Enhance/Diffuse Glow:
12/13/3  + Glow color (red arrow): 253/234/234.
Click OK and deselect.

2 Gold + 1 Color + 1 White.

Expand: 5 Color, and select the border. Go to Web/Button Designer/Any Shape and use the same settings as before:
Basic:
Light angle: 315
Light elevation: 35
Bevel size: 3
Bevel smoothness: 0
Bevel: Choose the 2. one.
Click OK and deselect.

1 White + 1 Color + 2 Gold.

In case you need to freshen up your memory on how to save a mask into the EP - you can take a look at one of my other tutorials, where I explain a little bit more about how to use a mask in PI. You'll find the tut here.

Expand: 40 Color. Select the border, open your EP and find the mask you've downloaded and saved into your EP. Apply the mask, choose the Transform Tool (red arrow) and click the Selection button (white arrow). Resize the mask the way you can see on the screenshot.

Go to Edit/Fill/Image and fill the mask with the same GoldFillPattern we used for the golden borders.

Selection/None und Merge All.
Right click/All, right click/Border: Border width: 40 (white hand), Direction: Inward (red arrow), Shape: Box.
Go to Effect/Bordermania/Frame #2:
3/3/110/110 + Notch Corners.
Repeat the last step, Bordermania, with the same settings.
Deselect.

2 Gold.

Merge All.

That's it! A beautiful and very special frame for any kind of photo ... done with PI and different filters. HAVE FUN!!!
