DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a beautiful frame to decorate your photos or pictures ... by using PI and Eye Candy 3.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again -, so next time I'm only referring to 1 Acadie (=downloaded tile from Acadie Art, use Edit/Fill/Image) or 5 Gold (=Gold border made with the Kaleidoscope Fill ). Just repeat the steps I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the color.)

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture, go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 2 pixels, Expand: White. Select the border, and go to Effect/Fills and Textures/Kaleidoscope Fill and choose Mode 17 (white arrow). Click the Edit button (red arrow) and choose palette 008. Now you can choose the Pattern sample you like - I used the 3. one on the first row, which has the number 17-3.
Deselect.

Expand: 1 White, select the border and go to Edit/Fill/ Image (red arrow) and find the texture you've down- loaded (white arrow). Remember to check the box Tile the image (1).
Click OK and deselect the border.

2 Gold.

Expand: 5 White, select the border, go to Edit/Fill/Image and fill with the same tile as before.
Keep the border selected and go to Effect/Noise/Add Noise/Options: Uniform and Variance: 30
Deselect.

1 Gold + 1 Acadie + 1 Gold + 1 Acadie +
5 Gold + 1 Acadie + 1 Gold.

Expand: 15 Acadie, select the border and go to Effect/Eye Candy 3/Cutout. Use these settings:
Direction: 312
Distance: 16
Blur: 9
Opacity: 48
Shadow Color: Black
Deselect.

1 Gold + 1 Acadie + 2 Gold.

Expand: 22 Acadie and select the border.Go to Effect/ Fills and Textures/Texture Filter/Embossed (1) and choose the texture you want to use by clicking the icon (red arrow) for Texture Image. For this border I used emboss009.bmp (white arrow), with these settings: 100/33/9/0 and Direction: 45.
Click OK/Apply Current Frame Effect to Image.
Keep the border selected and go to Effect/Eye Candy 3/Cutout and use the same settings as before: 312 + 16/9/48 and Shadow Color: Black.
Deselect.

1 Gold + 1 Acadie + 1 Gold.

Expand: 28 Acadie, select the border and go to Effect/ Eye Candy 3/Water Drops and use the default settings:
Number of Drops: 2500
Edge Darkness: 100
Opacity: 1
Refraction: 50
Color: 0/4/255
Random Seed: 1
Highlight Brightness: 100
Highlight Sharpness: 100
Lighting - Direction: 122
Lighting - Inclination: 50
OK and keep the border selected.

Go to Effect/Eye Candy 3/Cutout, use the same settings as before and deselect the border.

1 Gold + 1 Acadie + 3 Gold.

Merge All.

That's it! A beautiful and special frame for any kind of photo or artwork ... done with PI and different filters. HAVE FUN!!!
