To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All,
right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the
Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box.
You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more
easy if you use similar colors for the background and the
border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded
equally!)

Open
the picture you want to use.
Go
to adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 1 pixel,
Expand: White,
and select the border.
Go to Effect/Fills and Textures/Kaleidoscope Fill,
click Edit (red arrow) and choose 008. Palette template 13 (1)
and Pattern sample 4 (2).
Deselect (click inside the picture).
Expand sides equally 1 pixel,
Expand: Foreground color (white arrow), which we pick from the
picture. (I used 0/49/98.)
Now we will make another golden frame with the Effect/Fills
and Textures/Kaleidoscope Fill command. Use the same settings as we
did for the first frame.
Deselect. |
We are going to make several more frames like the 3 frames
(also the same combination 1-2-1), so next time I'm only referring
to the frames 1-2-1. Just repeat the steps we've done right
now. And we will also need some more frames like the first one
- the golden one. Then I will refer to frame 1.

10 pixels,
Expand color: Foreground color.

and choose Directional (white hand) under Advanced (white arrow). Leave the
settings as they are: 0/90/0/0. Click OK/Apply Current Frame
Effect to Image and deselect.
Add a frame 1.

used 0/64/128. Select the border and go to Effect/Birgit's
Chaos/More Stripes, and use these settings: 0/255/255/15/255.
Keep the border selected.
Go to Photo/Color/Hue&Saturation/Colorize (red arrow) and use
these settings:
29/-28/0
Keep the
border selected.
Effect/Bordermania/Frame #2, with these settings:
19/19/130/55 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.
Add frames 1-2-1.

screenshot: 12/12/58/67.

Expand sides equally 30 pixels,
Expand color: White. Select the border, go to Edit/Trace Edges/Selection Marquee and accept
the default settings. Change the Mode (1) from Horizontal
Deform to 3D Round and choose the Foreground color (white
hand). Click the Material button (white arrow) and change the
settings under Shading from Phong
to Metallic/Copper (red arrow). Set the Shininess to 92 and the Strength
to 30.
Click OK and deselect.
