DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a fantastic frame for any artwork you wish ... this time we are using PI and several very handy filters.

Remember to save often!

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture you want to use. (This one has a size of 263 x 350 Pixel.)

Go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand: White,
Right click/All, right click/Border: Border width: 1 (white hand), Direction: Inward (red arrow), Shape: Box and and Anti-aliasing.
Click OK and keep the border selected.
Edit/Fill/Image and fill the border with the file named Silverfill and Tile the image.
Deselect (spacebar).

We are going to make some more frames like the first one (same steps - Expand, Selection, Edit/Fill/Image: SilverFill), so next time I'm only referring to the frame 1. Just repeat the steps we've done right now for our first frame.

Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand color: White, and select the border.
Go to Edit/Fill/Image. Find the file with the name "Goldfillpattern_black" and Tile the image.
Deselect (spacebar).

Add a frame 1. Deselect (spacebar).

Expand sides equally 5 pixels, Expand color: White.
Select the border and go to Edit/Fill/Image (red arrow), but this time find the file (1) with the name  "Goldfillpattern_greyblue02" and Tile the image (2).
Click OK and keep the border selected.

Effect/Bordermania/Frame#2, with these settings:
5/5/110/130 + Notch Corners
Deselect (Enter).

Add a frame 1.

Expand sides equally 5 pixels, Expand color: White, select the border and go to Edit/Fill/Image, and choose the file with the name "Goldfillpattern_greyblue02".
Keep the border selected.
Effect/Filter Factory Gallery A/Pool Shadow with these settings: 120/237/95/75/179/36/69/51.
Keep the border selected.
Effect/Bordermania/Frame#2 with the same settings as before: 5/5/110/130 + Notch Corners
Deselect (Enter).

Add a frame 1.

Expand sides equally 25 pixels, Expand color: 156/156/180 (a color from the picture). Select the border and go to Effect/Kang 3 (red arrow)/Katcradle (white arrow) and use these settings (1):
104/174/61/51/91/116
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using Filters Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same anyway.
Click Apply and keep the border selected.

By the time I wrote the PI 8-tutorial, I used the filter Eye Candy 4000/Bevel Boss for the next step, but if you don't have this filter - it's a pay filter -, you can also use Almathera/A Halo, which is a free filter.
Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black (red arrow) + 30/35.
Click OK and deselect the border.

Add a frame 1.

Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand color: White, select the border and go to Edit/Fill/Image.
Choose now the  "Goldfillpattern_black".
Deselect (spacebar).

Add a frame 1.

Expand sides equally 15 pixel, Expand color: White, select  the border. Go to Edit/Fill/Image choose "Goldfillpattern_greyblue02".
Effect/Filter Factory Gallery A (red arrow)/Pool Shadow (white arrow) with these settings (1): 151/208/118/146/79/192/131/147.
Apply and click 5 times the minus Brightness in the Quick Color Panel (white hand).
Deselect (Enter).

Add a frame 1.

Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand color: White, select  the border and go to Edit/Fill/ Image choose "Goldfillpattern_black". Deselect (spacebar).

Add a frame 1.

Expand sides equally 30 pixels, Expand color: Black and select the border. Go to Effect/Filter Factory Gallery B (red arrow)/Button Deluxe (white arrow) and use these settings (1): 203/120/118/123/122/127.
Keep the border selected.
Effect/Almathera/A Halo: Black + 28/34.
Deselect (Enter).

Add a frame 1.

Merge All.

That's it! A beautiful, special frame for a wonderful artwork ... done with PI and lots of nice filters. HAVE FUN!!!
