DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a fantastic frame for any artwork you wish ... with PI and Simple's Diamonds filter.

Remember to save often!

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture you want to use.
Go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 2 pixels, Expand: White, and select the border.
Go to Edit/Fill/ Gradient (1)/Magic Gradient (2) and find Mode 4 (white arrow).
Click the Edit button (red arrow) and choose palette 008. Click OK twice.
Deselect the border.

Right Click the Foreground color (red arrow)/Eyedropper and choose a color from your picture.
Expand sides equally 5 pixels, Expand color: Foreground color (44/108/64), and select the border.
Effect/Noise/Add Noise/Options, choose Varied (1) and set the Variance to 50 (white arrow).
Deselect (click inside the picture).

Now we will make another golden frame with the Edit/ Fill/Gradient/Magic Gradient command. Use the same settings as we did for the first frame.
Deselect the border.

We are going to make some more frames like the first one (same steps - Expand, Selection, Edit/Fill/Gradient/Magic Gradient with the same golden color and pattern), so next time I'm only referring to the frame 1. Just repeat the steps we've done right now for our first frame.

Expand sides equally 9 pixels, Expand color: White. Select the border and go to Edit/Fill/Gradient (1) and choose the Magic Gradient (2). Click the Edit button (3) and choose the palette 102. Right click on the black squares (red arrows) and change the color to your Foreground color (44/108/64). Right Click the white squares and change the color to a matching color (214/253/226). Click Add, and your palette will be saved to the Palette Ramp Editor.
Click OK, and choose Mode 14 (4) in the next window.
Click OK twice.
Deselect the border.

Add a frame 1.

Expand sides equally 35 pixels, Expand color: Foreground color (44/108/64). Select the border and go to Effect/ Distort/Creative Warp. First of all click the button Undo (1). Then choose different Pattern templates (2) after each other (I used these):
17 + 12 + 5 + 12. (Here you have to try different combi- nations - the effect of the Pattern templates depends on the picture you use.)
Click OK and keep the border selected.

Effect/Simple/Diamonds and keep the border selected.

Go to Web/Button Designer/Any Shape. Set the Light angle under Basic (white hand) to 135, the Light elevation to 43 (1), Bevel size (red arrow) to 7 and Bevel smoothness (white arrow) to 7.

Choose Bevel (red arrow) and pick the last Bevel type (white arrow).
Click OK and keep the border selected.

Right click the border and choose Shadow. Set the color to black and use the fifth one (red arrow). Use these settings:
Transparency: 50
Shadow size: 98
Soft edge: 10
Click OK and deselect.

Add one more time a frame 1.
Merge All and Save As.

That's it! A beautiful, special frame for a beautiful fairy. HAVE FUN!!!
