DESCRIPTION:
Make a beautiful blend with PI.
Tutorial:
Copyright © Inge Klement
If you want to redo this tutorial, but don't want to print so many
pictures,
you can find a copy without screenshots here!
PI
Version:
12 (but you can use earlier, and newer versions too)
Level:
Intermediate
Featured tools:
Transform Tool, Pick Tool
Additional filters:
Xero/Soft
Mood (filter set 2)
Additional files:
3 tubes, 1 mask, 1 fill, and 1 background texture.
You'll get the material in the zip-file.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Supplies: One tube is from lamanouche,
the original picture is from Sergei
Sogokon
one is from Kat,
aka Namon's Angel, and the last one is from Kat -
thanks to all of you for your wonderful work!
The mask is from PI 12 (it's in the zip-file, so everybody can
remake the tutorial) , the fill from the internet,
and the background texture from a site called tbe.through-the-rain,
but it obviously doesn't exist anymore.
You are allowed to download the material here and use it for your
private use,
but you are not allowed to change the name of the tubes/scrap
element/mask/background/object or text-file,
delete the watermark, neither offer them for sale or download.
The copyright © belongs ALWAYS to the original artist/designer!
No copyright infringement is intended.

Before we
start, you should open the masks, and store them into your Easy
Palette. In case you need to freshen up your memory on how to save
a mask into the EP - you can take a look at one of my other
tutorials, where I explain a little bit more about how to use a
mask in PI. You'll find the tutorial here.
Important - in my tutorials my masks fit the chosen
background/object ... you achieve this by right clicking any mask
inside the original category Mask Library in your Easy Palette.
Now you choose the option Fit Mask.
And you should also install the texture
... canvas_coarse ... into your PI Texture Filter. (If you need help, take a look here.)
Very important:
Do NOT merge the pictures
before I tell you
to do so!
|
 |
Open
the background texture ... Leomo_19 ... and make 2 duplicates
(Ctrl+D). Close the original texture, and minimize one of the
duplicates.
Open
the tube ... Kat_0640 ..., copy (Ctrl+C) the tube (1), and paste
(Ctrl+V) the copy of the tube on the texture, which we kept open
(2).
Right click the tube on the texture/Properties/Position &
Size, and use these
settings:
Left: 40 (red arrow) and Top: - 61 (white arrow).
Click OK and keep the tube activated.
Choose the Pick Tool and change the Transparency of the tube to
22.
Keep the tube activated, and go to Effect/Xero/Soft Mood and use
the default settings.
Deselect the tube (Enter).
|
|
 |
Open
the tube ... KAT_misted vintageart ..., copy the
tube, and paste the copy of the tube on
our main picture.
Choose the Transform Tool and use the command Flip Horizontally
(white arrow).
Right click the tube on the main picture/Properties/ Position &
Size/Size, and resize the tube.
Make sure the box "Keep aspect ratio" is ticked (red
arrow), and change the Width to 423 (white hand).
Now we can change the position (1) of the tube to:
Left: 450 / Top: 14.
Click OK and deselect the tube (Enter).
|
|
 |

the tube ... Peach_Life ..., copy the
tube, and paste the copy of the tube on
our main picture.
Choose the Transform Tool and use the command Flip Horizontally.
Right click the tube on the main picture/Properties/ Position &
Size/Size, and resize the tube.
Make sure the box "Keep aspect ratio" is ticked, and change the Width to
653 and afterwards change the position to: Left: - 35 / Top:
165.
Keep the tube activated.
Go to Edit/Fade Out and use these settings:
Fill type: 4.altern. (white hand)
Fill color: Two-color:
50% (red arrow) - 100% (white arrow).
Click OK, choose the Pick Tool and change the Transparency of the
tube to 15.

Go to
Effect/Xero/Soft Mood and use these settings:

Click OK and deselect the tube (Enter).
|
|
|
|
Open
your Easy Palette/Libraries and double-click the mask
... P01 ..., which
you've downloaded, unzipped and stored into the EP - or if you
work with PI 12/PI X3 you can find the mask in the EP under
Mask/Paint.
On the screenshot you can see the mask applied on our picture (1).
Go to Effect/Fills and Textures/Texture Filter/ Embossed, click the little icon
for the Texture image (red arrow) and choose Select Texture. Find the texture
... canvas_coarse.jpg ... which you've downloaded and installed into the Texture
Filter.
Use these settings: 50/20/50/0 + Direction: 45.
Click OK/Apply Current Frame Effect to Image and keep the mask activated.
Right click/Select All Objects, right
click/Merge as Single Object. (I'll call this object next time for
"Blend-object".)
|
|
|
|
Maximize
the second duplicate of the background texture, go to
Adjust/Resize and change the Width to 110 Percent (white
hand).
The new image will now be 880 x 660 pixels (red arrow).
Click OK.
From now on, this image will be our main image!
|
|
|
|
Photo/Blur/Gaussian
Blur and use the default setting (middle preview thumbnail on the
open window - 1).
If you click Options this would be Radius: 5.
Click OK.

on our main picture.

Transparency: 50
Shadow size: 100
Soft edge: 7.
Click OK and deselect the "Blend-object" (Enter).
Add some text as you wish, and Merge All.
|
|
|
|
Right
click/All, right click/Border, and use these settings:
Border width: 2 Pixels (white hand), Direction: Inward (red
arrow), Shape: Box and Anti-aliasing.
Click OK and keep the border selected.
|
|
|
|
Go to Edit/Gradient (1)and use these settings:
Fill type: 2.altern. (white hand)
Fill color: Two-color:
83/70/13 (red arrow) - 100/25/8 (white arrow).
Click OK, deselect the border (spacebar), and your blend is
finished. :))
|
Here's
the result in the original size :))
