Make a beautiful picture with PI.

If you want to redo this tutorial, but don't want to print so many pictures,

PI Version: 12 (but you can use earlier, and newer versions too)
Level: Intermediate
Featured tools: Transform Tool, Pick Tool
Additional filters: None
Additional files: 2 tubes, 1 scrap element, 1 background,
2 paper elements and 1 text file .
You'll get the material in the zip-file.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
 
Supplies: The tubes are from Karine, the scrap element is from Ylvas Design,
the background and the paper elements are made by me for this tutorial.
You are allowed to download them here and use them for your private use, 
but you are not allowed to change the name of the tubes/elements, background,
delete the watermark, neither offer them for sale or download.

Remember to save often!

 

Open the background ... ik-0069_03_braun ... and the paper element ... papier_002_ok.

Copy (Ctrl+C) the paper element (1), and paste (Ctrl+V) the copy on the background (2).

Choose the Transform Tool (white arrow)/Rotate by degree and set the value to 10.00 (red arrow). Click the button Rotate counterclockwise (white hand).
Keep the paper element activated.

Right click/Properties/Position & Size, and use these position: Left: -25 and Top: -126.
Keep the paper element activated.

Right click/Shadow and use these settings:
Black (white hand) + 4.altern. (red arrow) +
X-offset: 3
Y-offset: 3
Transparency: 50
Shadow size: 100
Soft edge: 2
Click OK and deselect the paper element (Enter).



 

Open the paper element ... paper-torn_001 ... copy (Ctrl+C) the paper element, and paste (Ctrl+V) the copy on our main picture. 
Right click the paper element on the main picture/ Properties/Position & Size (white hand) and position it  like I did:
Left: 604 (red arrow) / Top: -5 (white arrow).
Click OK and keep the paper element activated.

Right click/Shadow and use these settings:
Black + 4.altern. + 5/5 + 50/100/5.
Deselect the paper element (Enter).


Open the tube ... karine_lady33 ... copy and paste it on our main picture, choose the Transform Tool and Flip Horizontally (white hand).
Right click the tube, Properties/Position & Size (1), and make sure the box "Keep the aspect ratio" is ticked (red arrow). Change the Width to 240.
Now we can change the position of the tube too:
Left: 10 and Top: 0.
Click OK and keep the tube activated.

Go to Photo/Focus/Options and change the Level to 1.
Keep the tube activated, right click/Shadow, and use these settings:
Black + 4.altern. + 5/5 + 50/100/8.
Deselect the tube (Enter).

Open the tube ... karine_ladymist10 ... copy and paste it on our main picture, choose the Transform Tool, Flip Horizontally and then Rotate by degree - 10 degrees counterclockwise.
Right click the tube,
Properties/Position & Size (1)/Size and resize the tube.
Make sure the box "Keep aspect ratio" is ticked (red arrow), and change the Width to 470 (white hand). 

Now we can change the position of the tube too.
Left: 284 / Top: -7 (white arrows).
Click OK and keep the tube activated.
 

Go to Edit/Fade Out and use these settings:
Fill type: 2.altern. (white hand)
Fill color: Two-color:
10% (red arrow) to 100% (white arrow).
Click OK and keep the tube selected.

Choose the Pick Tool, change the Soft edge to 72 (red arrow) and then click the arrow "Send Backward", twice  (white hand). This should "send" the tube behind the torned paper, but the tube should still be on top of the small paper element. 
Deselect the tube (Enter).


Open the scrap element ... y_scrapelements6 ... copy and paste it on our main picture. Right click the scrap element, Properties/Position & Size and use these settings:
Left: 606 and Top: -14.
Right click the scrap element/Shadow, and use these settings: 
Black + 4.altern. + 2/2 + 50/100/5.
Deselect the scrap element.

Open the text file ... text_scrapblend_001 ..., copy (Ctrl+C) it and paste (Ctrl+V) the copy of the text file on our main picture. 
Right click the text,
Properties/Position & Size and use these settings:
Left: 218 and Top: 123.
Merge All. 


Right click/All, right click/Border, and use these settings:
Border width: 2 Pixel (white hand), Direction: Inward (red arrow), Shape: Box and Anti-aliasing.
Click OK and keep the border selected.  

Go to Edit/Fill/Color (white arrow) and fill the border with the color 71/44/11 (red arrows).
Click OK, deselect the border (spacebar) and your picture is finished. :))
