IMPORTANT NOTE:
The photos I'm using are from PD
Photo.org, and the background picture I've made by myself.
You can use the background picture to redo this tutorial, but you
are not allowed
to offer it for sale, download it or use it for your own
tutorials.
I have resized the photos to fit the tutorial,
but if you visit the homepage of PD Photo.org you can
download them, and a lot of other beautiful photos free.
(Be aware: Not all of the photos are free to use, there are some
photos marked as copyrighted!)

Before we
start, you should open the masks, and store them into your Easy
Palette. In case you need to freshen up your memory on how to save
a mask into the EP - you can take a look at one of my other
tutorials, where I explain a little bit more about how to use a
mask in PI. You'll find the tutorial here.
Important - in my tutorials my masks fit the chosen
background/object ... you achieve this by right clicking any mask
inside the original category Mask Library in your Easy Palette.
Now you choose the option Fit Mask.
Very important:
Do NOT merge the picture
before I tell you
to do so!
|
 |
Open the background picture, - 0076_inkl.jpg.
Choose the Paint
Tool/Paintbrush, click the little arrow (white hand) on the Texture button
and find the PI-brush - Paper39.jpg (1).
I used brush size: 500 (choose the size you prefer), Color:
64/10/0 (white arrow), Trans: 60, Soft edge: 84 and
VERY IMPORTANT - Mode: Paint as object (red arrow).
|
|
 |
Paint now on the background as you can see I did. I left the green
area (red x) without brush painting.
When
you are satisfied with the brush painting, click the Pick Tool, and a small window appears on your screen. Click
Yes.
Merge All.
|
|
 |
Open
the flower photo balboa_1_bg_052503. Copy (Ctrl+C)
the photo (1) and paste
(Ctrl+V) the
copy on our main picture (2).
Close the downloaded photo ... the photo on the main picture should
still be activated.
Right click the photo, choose Properties/Position &
Size (white hand) and change the Position to:
Left: 66 (red arrow)/Top: 0 (should be already 0).
Click OK and keep the flower photo selected.
|
|
 |
Go
to Edit/Fade Out and use these settings:
Fill type: 6. (white hand)
Fill color: Two-color:
100% (red arrow) to 0 % (white arrow).
Click OK and deselect the flower photo (Enter).
|
|
|
 |
Open
the woman picture mr_DSC_9214_2..._Simbär. Copy (Ctrl+C) the
photo (1) and paste (Ctrl+V) the copy on our main picture
(2).
Close the downloaded photo ... the photo on the main picture
should still be activated.
Right click woman photo, choose Properties/Position & Size (white
hand) and change the Position to:
Left: - 299 (red arrow)/Top: - 120 (white arrow).
Click OK and keep the woman photo selected.
|
|
|
|
Open
your Easy Palette/Libraries (white hand) and double-click the mask
... maske_71-kris_02 (1), which
you've downloaded, unzipped and stored into the EP.
On the screenshot you can see that the mask applied on
the image (2).
Keep the woman photo selected as it is.
|
|
|
'
|
Go
to Effect/optikVerve Lab/Virtual Photographer and find the preset Fall
colors (white arrow).
Click Process and keep the woman photo selected.
|
|
|
|
Choose
the Pick Tool (white hand) and change the Transparency of the
woman photo to 40 (red arrow).
Keep the woman photo selected. |
|
|
|
Effect/Xero/SoftMood
and use these settings:
Haziness: 255
Glow - Red: 55
Lock sliders (red arrow)
Brightness: 15
Contrast: 12
Click OK and deselect the woman photo (Enter).
|
|
|
|
Choose
the Pick Tool, activate the flower photo, and use the command
Bring to Front (red arrow).
You can skip the next step, but if you want you can, as I did, use
the eraser to give the picture the finishing touch.
|
|
|
|
With the flower photo still
activated, choose the Eraser Tool (red arrow),
Size: as you want (I used 188), Transparency: 55 and Soft edge:
99.
Erase now carefully a little bit of the flower picture in front of
the woman's mouth, as you can see on the screenshot.
When
you are satisfied, Merge All. |
|
|
|
Open
your Easy Palette/Libraries (white hand) and double-click the mask
... tut_blend_015-mask (1), which
you've downloaded, unzipped and stored into the EP.
On the screenshot you can see that the mask applied on
the image (2).
Choose a nice dark color from your blend as your Background color (red arrow) - here
64/10/0, and push
1 x
the Delete button (alternatively - go to Edit/Fill/Color and
choose the color you want to use.)
Deselect (spacebar).
Add
some text as you want, Merge All, and the blend is finished :)) |
Here's
the result in the original size :))
|
|

|
|
| That's
it! A beautiful blend ... made with PI, two masks, 2 photos,
one background picture and some 3rd party filters. HAVE FUN!!!
