DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows how you can make a beautiful and special frame to decorate your photos or artworks ... by using PI and some 3rd party filter.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial we are using 2 main colors - the Foreground color and the Background color -, so next time, for making it more easy, I'm only referring to 1 Light (Foreground color) or 1 Dark (Background color). If not mentioned otherwise, always expand the sides equally with the pixels mentioned in front of the color.

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box.
You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Set your Background and Foreground color to fit your picture - here I used 216/184/153 (red arrow) for the foreground color, and 193/115/68 (white arrow) for the Background color.

Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally: 1 Light (Foreground color).
Right click/All, right click/Border: Border width: 1 (1), Direction: Inward (white hand), Shape: Box and Anti-aliasing.
Click OK.

Right click/Convert to Object.

Right click/Shadow, and use these settings:
Color: Black (white hand)
Altern.: 5. (red arrow)
Transparency: 0
Shadow size: 99
Soft edge: 7.
Click OK and Merge All.

Expand: 3 Dark (Background color) and select the border. Effect/Greg's Factory Output Vol.II (red arrow)/Pool Shadow (white arrow) and use the default settings (1):
50/50/50/50/50/50/128/128.
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using Filters Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same anyway.
Click Apply and Merge All.

Expand: 1 Light.

Expand: Color: Dark (white hand), unmark the box "Expand sides equally" (red arrow), and expand:
Top: 0/Left: 0/Right: 30/Bottom: 40.
Click OK.

Right click/All, right click/Border: Border width: 1, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box and Anti-aliasing.
Go to Edit/Fill/Color and use your Foreground color ... in my case -  216/184/153.

Right click/Convert to Object, right click/Shadow - with these settings:
Black + 5.altern. + 0/99/5.

Merge All.

Expand: with a dark shade of your Background color ... I used - 123/71/40 (white hand). Unmark the box "Expand sides equally" (red arrow), and expand:
Top: 40/Left: 30/Right: 0/Bottom: 0.

Color: Black (white hand)
Altern.: 5.(red arrow)
Transparency: 0
Shadow size: 99
Soft edge: 5.
Click OK and Merge All.

Expand all sides equally: 50 Dark (Background Color) and select the border. Effect/Toadies (red arrow)/What Are You? (white arrow) and use this setting:
Overdose: 35.
Click Apply and Merge All.

Choose the Selection Tool/Magic Wand (red arrow), with a Similarity of approx. 20 (white arrow), and select the outermost border (1), as you can see on screenshot.
Right click/Invert, right click/Convert to Object, and drag the new object on your free working space (2).
Now you have two pictures in front of you. You can close picture 1 - we shall do the last finishing on  picture 2.

Merge All.

Expand: 30 Dark (Background color).

Expand: 1 Light (Foreground color).

That's it! A beautiful frame for any kind of photo or artwork ... done with PI and some 3rd party filter. HAVE FUN!!!
